Within my seascapes I often aim to portray an experience of bliss, opening up a space to take time and breathe slowly. I hope to depict feelings of tranquility that diffuse the mental load of everyday life, and induce a state of calm. I find that the beach encourages mindfulness and reflection, whether it’s from a dip in the sea or a stroll on the sand. I also personally go through a meditative process whilst I paint, and hope to translate these experiences into my work to share.
In some of my recent works I have been following a desire to express the euphoric embodiment of natural scenes; moments of peace captured within ever changing circumstances. I delve into the journey of light and how its wavelengths travel through air and water in order to meet our eyes with colourful arrays. Through this passage I also consider how natural elements interact with each other, and the diurnal processes that affect each other. These cycles of time and light draw me towards sunsets and sunrises and how they correspond with the ocean.
